October at Foster Forward: Awards & Housing

This October has been full of inspiring moments for Foster Forward, and we’re thrilled to share some exciting updates with you! From award recognitions for our dedicated team to new strides in affordable housing, we’re making progress with your invaluable support. Check out this month’s highlights and learn more about how you can support Rhode Island's future. Together, we’re building a brighter future and strengthening support for foster youth and young adults across Rhode Island.

This month, Foster Forward was honored to receive the Community Organization Spotlight Award at Haus of Codec’s annual anniversary celebration! We’re grateful for this recognition and for the incredible partnerships that allow us to serve Rhode Island’s foster youth and families.

Foster Forward’s journey to expand housing for foster youth took center stage on the front page of the Providence Journal! The feature highlights our ongoing housing efforts and includes a moving story from our Peer Support Specialist, Sylvia, who shared how stable housing transformed her life. We’re thrilled to see our work recognized as we continue to create pathways to safe, supportive housing for Rhode Island’s youth.

Our Director of Career Pathways, Bernadette Tavares, was awarded the Emerging Leader Award at the Rhode Island Black Business Association’s 2024 Annual Gala! This recognition celebrates her outstanding leadership and dedication to empowering youth in the foster care system through career readiness and support.

Foster Forward proudly supports Yes on 3, the Rhode Island Housing and Community Opportunity Bond! By voting Yes on 3, you're helping create more affordable housing, supporting community development, and building a more sustainable future for Rhode Island.

We believe every young person deserves a safe and stable place to call home, and this bond helps make that a reality. Let’s work together to ensure more Rhode Islanders have access to the housing and opportunities they need.
