Celebrating Real Connections

January is National Mentoring Month, and here at Foster Forward, we believe in the power of relationships to transform lives. Our Real Connections mentoring program plays a crucial role in providing the support and guidance that young individuals need as they navigate the challenging transition to adulthood.

And, this month, we’re thrilled to announce an organizational change that will put even more focus on this important program. Michelle Morel, who began her journey with Foster Forward as an intern, has recently been promoted to Manager of Real Connections. Michelle's dedication to making a difference exemplifies the heart of our organization, making possible successful mentoring matches like Allison Rego and Sylvia Parrott.

Allison and Sylvia were matched in January of 2022.  In reflecting on their mentoring journey Allison recalls: “The first time we met was in Michelle Morel’s office and I thought Sylvia wasn’t interested in me being her mentor because she was very quiet.  After I left she told Michelle ‘I think she will work out for me.’  Sylvia and I like to try new vegan/vegetarian restaurants and she has come with me to church.  Since I’ve known Sylvia she has always been honest with me and I appreciate how she trusts me and feels comfortable and safe with me.”In speaking with Sylvia about her experience with Allison she shared, “She’s really down to Earth and very supportive.  She introduced me to a good church, included me in her life and never forgot about me even in our most distant moments.”

This National Mentoring Month, we invite you to be a part of this transformative journey. Your support can help us expand our Real Connections program, reaching more young people in need of a caring mentor to guide them through life's challenges.
